A California woman who developed ovarian cancer after years of regular talcum powder use is suing manufacturer Johnson & Johnson. Her case, which began on Monday of this week in St. Louis, MO, is the most recent talcum powder ovarian cancer case against Johnson & Johnson to go to trial.

The Plaintiff in this case is one of thousands of women across the country that developed ovarian cancer after using Johnson & Johnson products containing talcum powder for feminine hygiene purposes. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012 following years of regular talcum powder use, and claims that she was completely unaware of the potentially serious health risks associated with J&J’s talcum powder products.

Despite having knowledge of the potential link between regular talc use and ovarian cancer, Johnson & Johnson chose not to add warning labels to products such as Johnson’s Baby® and Shower-to-Shower®, both of which contained talcum powder. Now, this plaintiff seeks to become the third woman this year to collect damages from J&J based on their failure to warn women about the serious health risks associated with regular use of talcum powder.

Thus far in 2016, two separate jury verdicts have ordered manufacturer Johnson & Johnson to pay more than $127 million in total damages to women and their families that have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer after using J&J products containing talcum powder. More than 20 scientific studies dating back as far as 1971 have pointed to the link between regular talc use for feminine hygiene and an increased risk of ovarian cancer. Johnson & Johnson put thousands of women at risk by failing to warn them about these serious health concerns.

Thousands of women are coming forward to seek damages against Johnson & Johnson. If you or a loved one were a regular J&J talcum powder user and were diagnosed with ovarian cancer, call Morelli Law Firm at 800-701-8800 for a FREE, confidential consultation.
